I went to Hamura zoo a number of times since I was a little child and I’d like to introduce attractions of this zoo.

What is Hinotonton Zoo?

Hinotonton Zoo map

The zoo was founded in 1978 the first town owned zoo in Japan. (Hamura city used to be town at that time)

It is relatively smaller than other zoo such as Tama Zoo or Ueno Zoo in Japan, but Hinotonton Zoo is aiming to welfare and happiness of animals (such as making enough space cage for peacocks which are one of the symbol of this zoo) and it is cozy and comfortable environment.

How to Access

The nearest station to Hinotonton zoo is Hamura station in JR Ome line.

(From Shinjuku station, it takes around 1 hour by JR Chuo line & Ome line transferring at Tachikawa station to get to Hamura station.)

From Hamura station it takes around 20 minutes to get to the zoo on foot.

Parking area for Hinotonton zoo is also available if you use car to go there.
